When speaking about a man's life and career it is better not to make casual statements or speculate. Richard Williams had a script for the Nasrudin film called The Majestic Fool. After losing Nasrudin, he had a revised script from the early 70s which had only minor changes. This script matches the scene and sequence numbers in test footage shot by the cameraman. It totally refutes the idea that Williams didn't know where he was going. He obviously used storyboards but didn't share them with every last worker on the film. Contributing to the mass of misinformation around this film is a documentary that interviews various people that worked on it with only a temporary narrow view into the production and its history. Animation is not always a business. Discussing it as a business venture takes the listener in the wrong direction. "...to the detriment of the story. " Is there only one way to make a film. Is story always dominant? Do you go to the ballet for the story? And after acknowledging that the film was never finished almost everyone who reviews it speaks as if it was. This subject is too long and too complicated to be summed up quickly.

Agreed. Another thing I noticed was the amount of Calvert storyboards and artwork that was used throughout the slideshow, which I find disrespectful considering those were created after the film was taken from Williams at a much lower quality and with less care to detail. The fact these supposed professionals believed this man had no plans or focus with the film during its development is absolutely insane, when there are SHOT LISTS AND STORYBOARDS IN THEIR OWN ARCHIVE.

As a big comic book fan, I can't help but wonder if the comic industry missed out on getting a huge talent like Cameron working in comics instead of film. That's not to say I'm complaining that he did film, instead. I love the vast majority of his work. That he's an artist further informs his film work in ways I hadn't realized before. It makes sense that he has such an eye for visuals and spectacle.

I love James Cameron. He is living my childhood dream. At 16, I said I would be a Renaissance Man: artist, writer, scientist, filmmaker, but I just didn't know how to make it a reality. Afraid to just quit my job and go for it...Still, nice to see that an artist can create an empire that includes scientific endeavors. I still have drawings from 45 years ago, of creatures, aliens, and heroes that existed in my imagination. Got ripped off when I sent my storyboards, hoping to be discovered, but the studio told me that "coincidences happen all the time...because folks can have similar ideas."
